Re: The 4 Gospels
I set up this poll because I'm studying the gospels in my bible class, and I thought it might be interesting to know which gospel would get the most votes.
I have always had trouble choosing between Matthew and Luke, but I think my favorite is Matthew for now.
Here's my order:
Matthew
Luke
John
Mark
I love them all though!

Re: The 4 Gospels
I read an interesting post at another board long ago. Someone had mentioned that each of the Gospels represented a different aspect of Christ. It is mentioned in the vision of Ezekiel, and again in Revelation. I never knew of this before, and found it interesting. I don't have a lot of details, but you can look into it further.
--------------------------------------------
From early Church history, we read that these represent the 4 Gospels:
Matthew - the Lion - presents Christ as King
Mark - the Ox - represents Christ as the sacrificial servant
Luke - the Man - presents Christ as God incarnate as a man
John - the Eagle - presents Christ as God.
Ever wonder why Jesus' birth is not recorded in John? Since John represents Jesus as God, there is no birth to record.
Mark doesn't record Jesus' human birth either, because as a servant, Jesus is ready to serve, and no one is interested in the heritage of a servant.
Matthew records Jesus geneology back to Abraham, the beginning of a nation, which is fitting for a king.
Luke records Jesus' geneology back to Adam, fitting for the Son of Man.
Now move forward to Revelation 4 and the vision of Ezekiel is repeated.
--------------------------------------------
Interesting stuff, I might have to investigate this further myself.

Re: The 4 Gospels
I went with John.
I like the way he spells much of the book out as being very matter of fact.
But I would probably have to say I like them all for different reasons.

I read something like that yesterday in my bible class.

That is very interesting, I never would have made that connection on my own. This does indeed merit further study.
